Selecting the Right Pump for the Job

When considering which pump is right for you, you should consider the following: –

• what is the purpose of the pump – household water pressure, garden watering, irrigation, stock water supply, hosing down, tank filling, firefighting?
• what is the operating pressure required?
• total output required?
• what is the source of the water supply – ie. river, creek, dam, rainwater tank etc.?
• is the water supply clean or muddy?
• what is the vertical suction lift required from water supply to the pump site?
• size and type of suction pipe?
• type of pump required – automatic pressure system, petrol engine driven pump, manual electric pump, diesel engine driven pump?
